Nearly 1,400 athletes gathered last weekend at the beautiful setting of Sestriere for the 2019 Golden Egg event, organized by Sporting Club Sestrieres.
Guests at the event, directly from the World Cup championships, were Francesca and Matteo Marsaglia and Lucrezia Lorenzi, who encouraged the young athletes, serving as trailblazers and taking photos and dispensing advice to the young fans.
The exciting competition saw for the second consecutive year Sci Club Sestriere secure the prestigious Golden Egg trophy, won thanks to the sum of the points of the placings in each category of the participants. Close behind in terms of scores were Golden Team Ceccarelli and Sci Club Sauze d'Oulx .
In the finish parterre, supporting the athletes, the party then continued in the sponsor village. Among the booths present was that of Bontà di Stagione, which not only provided one of its recipes in the athletes' free backpack (along with other culinary specialties from other sponsors), but also delighted participants and spectators with a series of hot soups, which were widely appreciated.
The day closed with the traditional parade of the participating Ski Clubs through the streets of the town, preceded by the flag-wavers of the city of Grugliasco, who enraptured everyone with their skill and bravura.
